TJ Sauthoff
Director of Construction, West
With Pyramid since 2000 (“22 years and counting!”), TJ joined the industry in 1997 as a Design Program Coordinator. It was a long way from his first job, where he was hired illegally at the age of 13 to wash dishes at a restaurant. His $3.25/hour pay had a good run, until the NYS Department of Labor inspector questioned him: “No one told me to not tell the truth …” Today, he enjoys job security in a dynamic and fast-paced telecom career, but his alter ego works as a travel blogger. His wanderlust has led him to check off a lot of boxes, including an eight-day trek over Rupin Pass in the Himalayas; Australia and Antarctica are next on the list.
TJ currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with his two standard poodles, whom never … stop … barking … After a lot of trial and error, he has become pretty good at fixing things around the house, a skill he is proud to have self-taught out of necessity and waiting for others to do it right. Additionally, he enjoys snowboarding, hiking, camping, and jeeping, and aspires to run the NYC Marathon before he gets too old and falls apart. Once upon a time, TJ played saxophone, first the alto and then the baritone, when his excessive hot air was discovered in sixth grade; he is confident he could still play “Mary Had A Little Lamb” if pressed.
Words to Live By
“What matters in life is not what happens to you, but what you remember and how you remember it.”
